Barrett Veterinary Practice is owned and operated by our fearless leader - Dr. Beth Barrett!

Dr. B (as many fondly refer to her) has been practicing Veterinary Medicine since graduating from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon in 1988. Upon graduation Dr Barrett hit the ground running, beginning her medical career on the racetrack in Winnipeg where she was responsible for many equines and their health requirements.   After leaving the racetrack Dr. Barrett owned and operated a mixed practice in Claresholm, Alberta; taught at the Vet school in Saskatoon and worked as a locum in various Calgary clinics.

Over time Dr. Barrett developed a keen interest in reproduction work. This led her to spend several years in China, Mexico, Tobago, and the Bahamas doing laparoscopic surgery on sheep, goats, and deer to aid conservation efforts.  As so many know now, most of Dr. Barrett's focus goes into her practice. Dr. Barrett always aims to provide a practical and down-to-earth approach to Veterinary Medicine which has kept clients happy and animals well for 30 years!

Outside of medicine, Dr. B enjoys training with her Golden Retrievers: Sako & Snap, whom you will see busy at work in the clinic. She has competed in Obedience, Hunt Tests, Agility, and Scent Hurdling with her critters and even bred, owned, and trained “Brio”, the first Golden Retriever in Canadian history to earn the Master Versatility Certificate (still one of only two dogs to achieve this title). She also likes to hit the dusty trail with her horses Seven & Buffalo and is the proud Mamma of two human sons - Jeffrey and Mark, who constantly keep her on her toes.
